Kelly's Landing sets Churchill Downs record |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kelly's Landing set a Churchill Downs record for six furlongs in a 1¾-length victory over Battle Won in Saturday's $162,450, Grade 3 Aristides Breeders' Cup Handicap for 3-year-olds and up.
Kelly's Landing, ridden by Gary Stevens, finished in 1:07.59 on a fast track, beating the previous mark of 1:07.77 set by Kona Gold in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Sprint in 2000.
Kelly's Landing paid $25.80, $6.40 and $4.60.
Battle Won returned $3 and $2.80, and Jet Prospector paid $3.20.
Kelly's Landing, a 4-year-old son of Patton, earned $100,719 for owner Summerplace Farm, LLC. He has won five of nine career starts for trainer Eddie Kenneally, and the Aristides Breeders' Cup was his second win in three races at Churchill Downs. AP NEWS The Associated Press News Service |
